Status of American companies in post-sanction Iran’s petrochemical industry
A senior official of the National Petrochemical Company (NPC) pointing to the revival of the former market of Iran’s petrochemical products in the US said, “For us what is more important than export of products to the US and Europe is use of modern technology in the field of petrochemical industry.”
Ali Mohammad Basaqzadeh referred to the status of the US and Europe in Iran’s petrochemical industry in post-sanction era and said the US is one of the biggest producer of petrochemical products in the world, therefore, export of petrochemicals to that country is not that easy, IRNA reported.
“In fact, the country’s petrochemical complexes, by using modern European and US technologies, can be completed rapidly and launch new units.”
He further remarked that the US is much farther than European countries to Iran and due to high costs of transportation and hard competition in the US market, “We intend to increase export of petrochemical products to Europe in the post-sanction era.”
In the aftermath of the success of the talks between Iran and 5+1, creditable petrochemical companies have called for presence in Iran and even several valid German and Dutch companies have provided license for some of the petrochemical units of our country.
Earlier Basaqzadeh had told IRNA that with the lifting of sanctions European companies will be able to transfer their more advanced technologies such as alloys which have a longer life duration and greater efficiency to Iran.
He also referred to the talks with a prestigious Austrian company for investment in Iran’s petrochemical industry and said representatives of the company held talks with NPC officials last week.
The official noted that the Austrian company in addition to readiness for making investment in Iran’s petrochemical projects intends to transfer its modern technologies to Iran in this regard.
He said the Austrian company is ready to implement its projects on the basis of EPCF method which will reduce implementation costs drastically.
Iran is currently enjoying an annual production capacity of 60 million tons of petrochemical products and is decisive to increase the production level to 180 million tons per year by 2025.
Being equipped with two gas and gas condensate feeding which is less observed in other countries of the world has provided a unique opportunity for the development of Iran’s petrochemical industry.
