Dy Minister: Petrochemical products to reach seven million tons
Managing Director of National Petrochemical Company (NPC) Marzieh Shahdaei said on Saturday that by commissioning 13 or 14 projects production capacity of petrochemicals will increase around seven million tons this year.
She said that negotiations are underway with foreign companies concerning cooperation in the field of sale and export of products as well as transfer of technology.
The deputy Petroleum Minister reminded desires of European and east Asian companies to invest in Iran's petrochemical industry.
She said that petrochemical industry helps prevent sale of raw materials by processing the upstream industries to petrochemical products.
Shahdaei hoped that necessary infrastructures to develop downstream industries will lead to create noticeable jobs.
The deputy minister said that there are 55 incomplete plans and the NPC gave priority to complete them soon.
She said that negotiations with foreign companies were held in order to transfer modern technology to remove problems of units and increase the production capacity.
She put total output of different types of petrochemicals at over 61 million tons annually in the country, which will increase to around 180 million tons in the matter of 10 years from now.
To implement the goal around 70 billion dollars new investment needed, both from domestic and foreign investments.
