Iran aims to revive its share of chemical product imported by Europe with Austria serving as the base for exports to the continent, said managing director of Petrochemical Commercial Company on Monday.
Speaking to Shana, Mehdi Sharifi Niknafs said that the Petrochemical Commercial Company has signed a memorandum of understanding with an Austrian delegation on exporting petrochemical products to Europe.
"We also held talks with a group of Pakistani companies to export chemical products," the official said.
He added that according to the MoU, Austria will serve as the base for exporting Iranian chemical products to Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Bulgaria.
Niknafs referred to the high quality of Iranian petrochemical products and urged Iranian companies to attend the 21st International Oil, Gas and Petrochemical Exhibition (May 5-8, 2016) to introduce Iranian products to the world.
The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) between Iran and the P5+1 facilitated the export of Iran petrochemical products but some problems still exist in shipping, insurance and banking transactions, he said.
Niknafs noted that Iran exported 5.5 million tons of petrochemical products valued at $3.5 billion in the year to March 19 indicating a growth of 35 to 40 percent in volume against the figure for the previous year.
