
Some 6,700,000 tons of petrochemicals produced in two months
Tehran, IRNA – Some 6,700,000 tons of petrochemical products were produced in two months from start of the year showing 10 percent growth, Director of National Iranian Petrochemical Company for production Ali-Mohammad Bosaqzadeh said on Wednesday.
Bosaqzadeh told a group of officials of the company that national petrochemical products will rise up by eight million tons in the current year.
He said that more than 46,400,000 tons of petrochemical products were produced in Iran last year, including 80 percent nominal capacity of the industry.
The official added that some 14,950,000 tons of the products were on domestic sale and 18,100,000 tons were for exports last year.
He noted that exports rose up by 23 percent last year compared to the preceding year.
The official said Iran's petrochemical production capacity will rise to 180 million tons a year from 60 million tons a year.
To meet the goal, 70 billion dollars investment is needed, mainly out of foreign sources, he added.
