Iran's petrochemical output in two months hits nine million tons
Production of petrochemicals in the first two months of the current Iranian calendar year, which began on 21 March 2017, reached nine million metric tons, according to a report from Iran's National Petrochemical Company (NPC).
According to a report by NPC, the industry's output in the month of Ordibehesht, second month in the Iranian calendar (21 April - 21 May), was 4.4 million tons.
Iranian petrochemical plants can supply 72 million tons of products annually. However, due to lack of feedstock, an output of 58.9 million tons has been predicted for the sector this year.
Moreover, 2.7 million tons of products were sold in the domestic market in these two months, with a total value of US$1.64 billion.
Furthermore, 3.4 million tons of products were exported during the two months, fetching US$1,673 million.
The Ilam, Carbon Iran and Laleh petrochemical plants were the most prolific facilities during the period.
